Superior protection in extreme weather

Our Trenchcoat Helibore pipe has a laminated protective polymer film which resists abrasion and corrosion and is not affected by extreme weather conditions.

Durability and design

For Internal Drainage Boards and local authorities facing repeated extreme weather events, our helibore corrugated steel pipes are manufactured from galvanised steel coil with a tough, rugged Trenchcoat polymer secondary coating. The Trenchcoat is laminated to each side of the galvanised steel coil prior to the pipe manufacturing process. This becomes an integral part of the product, providing a BBA Certified add on life of 50 years for storm water drains. It can withstand abuse during fabrication, handling and installation so it doesn’t limit design options. The coating resists corrosion and abrasion.

Key features

Corrugated steel pipe that is manufactured with Trenchcoat combines the benefits of steel and plastic, maximum strength with low handling weights and resistance to aggressive environments both soil-side and internally.

  • Abrasion resistant

It can withstand sand clay run off and gravel bedload, without losing its adhesion to metal. It also possesses superior abrasive resistance over metallic coatings and asphalt dipped coatings.

  • Corrosive resistant

It resists virtually all acids, salts found in tidal waterways and alkaline commonly found in most storm drains and culvert systems.

  • Lightweight

Coating adds virtually no weight, so pipe can be handled, moved and installed more easily than concrete pipe.

  • Weather proof

The film is not affected by extreme cold or heat found during winter or summer installations.

Typical applications

For aggressive environments, tidal waterways, peat ground, ground with high concentrations of sulphates, Trenchcoat Polymer secondary coating can be used to provide a BBA Certified add on life of 50 years for the following products:
